The Skinny:Week Six of the New Mexico High School Prep Football Season is officially underway as the hosting Atrisco Heritage Jaguars faced off against their toughest opponent of the season in the visiting Rio Rancho Rams. The Rams are now 5-1 and are now 5-0 against 5A opponents.
The Jaguars and Rams played each-other very tough throughout the first half and the Rams would lead 28-21 at the midway point. Atrisco just couldn't get things going against a very tough Rams defense in the 2nd half of play scoring only 7 points in the 2nd half. Atrisco is handed their first loss of the season and are now 4-1 on the season and 1-1 against 5A opponents.
Offensively the Jaguars were lead by senior quarterback Nate Goode who had 185 yard rushing on 19 carries with 2 TD's, also contributing was Jeremy Sanchez, and Ricci Alvidrez. The Rams were lead by Easton Bruere who had 4 total Passing TD's, Dylan Brady, Ulises Astorga and Austin Patterson all had a touchdown a peice, not to mention a stingy second half defensive unit. The Jaguars will play Valley in week 7 to begin district play. The Rams are going to be facing off against Eldorado in week 7.
