ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Volcano Vista coach Chad Wallin has a new commandment.

Thou shalt hand the ball off as many times as possible to the guy with the biblical name.

Getting the ball early and often, Hawks senior running back Moses Young rushed for nearly 200 yards and three touchdowns as Volcano Vista opened the 2017 season with a methodical 48-20 victory over Valley Saturday afternoon at Nusenda Community Stadium.

Two of Young’s rushing touchdowns came early in the third quarter when Volcano pulled away, turning a 15-point halftime advantage into a 35-7 lead within the first four minutes of the third quarter.

Valley threw a minor scare into the Hawks by rallying for two touchdowns to narrow the gap to 35-20, but Volcano scored twice in the fourth quarter to win comfortably.
