RIO RANCHO, N.M. -- Rio Rancho quarterback Logan Bruere had a dream starting debut for the Rams, throwing six touchdown passes and looking comfortable in the pocket all night long against overmatched Mayfield.
But for the first three quarters, the dominant Rio Rancho defense stole the show.
Firing on all cylinders on both sides of the ball, the Rams, reigning Class 6A champions, rolled past Mayfield, 42-21, Friday night on their home field in a clash of major New Mexico High School powers.
“Everybody showed up, did their part and did their job,” Rio Rancho coach David Howes told NMPreps.coma afterwards. “Anytime you get a win over Mayfield, you did something right. I’m happy for our boys.”
