Who: No. 2 La Cueva (11-1) at No. 1 Manzano (12-0);
What: Class 6A State Championship Football Game;
Where: Wilson Stadium, Albuquerque, NM;
When: Sat., Dec. 2, 1 p.m.
Seven weeks have elapsed since Manzano edged La Cueva by seven points in the first No. 1 vs. No. 2 battle between these two teams. Some things have changed, some things have stayed the same.
At the time, the matchup on Oct. 6 was for early momentum in the District 2-6A race and for bragging rights in terms of who would top the following week’s high school football poll.
Now, of course, everything is on the line. Manzano has an opportunity to capture the school’s first-ever football state championship, while La Cueva eyes its first state title since 2009 when Fred Romero led the Bears to a championship game victory over Mayfield.
