Onate's Forest McKee has committed to UTEP. On Sunday, January 15th Mckee, one of the State's top prep football players in the State of New Mexico has finally found a home.

"I committed just a few hours ago to UTEP. Head Football Coach Sean Kugler offered me a full scholarship and I just could not pass it up. I am overjoyed and overwhelmed with emotion as I have worked so very hard for this opportunity," Commented McKee.

As a senior, this past season for Onate McKee accounted for 167 tackles and 4 quarterback sacks and was named the NMPreps.com Linebacker of the Year. McKee told on on Sunday that UTEP wants him as a fullback.

"The coaching staff is looking at me actually as a fullback and tell me that I have a shot to make a push as the starter as a True Freshman. I think I ran for over 400 yards this past season, but they told me that they really liked my physicality when running the football and the chance for me to fight for a spot as a True Freshman makes me very eager to get onto Campus."

While McKee was on his official visit he ran into former Mayfield Quarterback Kavika Johnson who now attends and plays for the Miners.

"I ran into Kavika and he spoke so highly of the staff and the school itself. I'll enjoy playing with Kavika and look forward to being his teammate in the future. I also enjoyed UTEP's 12,000 square foot weight room, their football stadium, and their facilities overall, very nice place."

McKee checked in at 6-foot-0, 236 pounds on his visit and is currently benching 405 pounds.
