La Cueva weathers the Storm as swarming defense keys impressive win

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Message delivered, loud and clear.

The whispers surrounding the La Cueva defense, which returned nine starters from a year ago, has been steadily building in volume over the past few months.

Thursday night, that buzz reached a crescendo.

Flying around the field at seemingly warp speed, the La Cueva defense throttled the Cleveland offense for nearly 48 minutes in the Bears’ convincing 30-7 victory at Wilson Stadium that raised their record to 2-0 and confirmed their status as one of the Top 10 teams - maybe even the Top 5 - in the state of New Mexico.
