Quarterbacks

The Quarterback, the top gun of New Mexico, which quarterback will walk away from the NMPreps.com Elite Combine as the top overall quarterback this year? It's the most glorified position on the football field and rightfully so with the quarterback touching the football 100% of the offensive plays. This year, we have over 25 quarterbacks from across the State coming out to the event to increase their overall stock value during our summer evaluation period.
Sandia will have two-quarterbacks in attendance. Aaron Smith who we consider an athlete could go as quarterback, but we've seen him taking a lot of reps this summer as a receiver and defensive back. Truly a stud for Sandia. Craig Coffman at 6-foot-3, is a pocket style quarterback and really the top quarterback prospect that Sandia has had under Head Coach Kevin Barker. He has a big arm and stands nice and tall in the pocket. Valley High School will be sending Bo Coleman out of the Class of 2014. Coleman who is the son of Valley Head Basketball Coach Jim Coleman and has a ton of talent playing every game as a sophomore for Valley in 2011.
Staying in the Metro Area, Cleveland's new quarterback is Kian Homme who throws a fanatic ball will be in attendance. Homme at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds does not have the mobility that NMPReps.com Mr. Football Winner Cole Gautsche who, but throws a better ball than Guatsche did when Gautsche was a junior. Nathan Goode out of Atrisco Heritage will be one to watch and you more than likely recognize him from being a top tier wrestler taking second place last year as a junior.
Goode is as tough as they come and is extremely well built.
Volcano Vista is sending two-year starter Reid Hendricks who has improved leaps and bounds since his junior year, and La Cueva is sending Zach Silva who has had a very good off-season leading the Bears. Last, but not least from the Metro we have John White out of Academy and Super Sophomore Easton Bruere who will be in attendance. Bruere at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds is one of the better quarterbacks we've seen all summer long.
From the Northern Region of New Mexico, we have Adam Lucero attending. The Senior to be Quarterback out of Aztec High School is rated as the number one overall quarterback by NMPreps.com. Last year he led Aztec to a 13-0 record and at the Combine as a junior he repped 18 pounds more than 15 times. Grants is sending Cassius Corley, Miyamura is sending 2,000-yard passer Zach Shank who had a huge junior season, Piedra Vista is sending Isaiah Valdez who had a monster sophomore year. Valdez is one that we think is going to be a sleeper this year. From St. Michael's we have Cory Serna who had over 2,000 all purpose yards as a junior leading St. Michael's to a 12-1 season record in 2011 and also from Santa Fe will be Jordan Booth-Homer who will be a three years starter for Santa Fe High School.

Southern Talent Attending

Starting off with Chris Wisneski from Los Lunas. We know, they are North/South, but whatever the case Wisneski looks to be one of the fastest overall prospects in the State of New Mexico. Last year as a junior he helped Los Lunas to the second round of the play-offs. From Hobbs New Mexico is 6-foot-3, 200 pound Brayden Price who should have no trouble passing for over 2,000-yards during his senior campaign.
Price is one of the best we've seen from Hobbs in years at quarterback. Onate High School in Las Cruces is sending two-year starter Curtis Hynes who has been doing work on defensives this summer. Dakotah Yandell from Clovis is the new quarterback who has some vey good size on him. Daivd Padron out of Deming will take over the Wildcat's offense. On the JV, Padron led Deming to a fantastic 7-2 season record.
Lovington is sending both of their quarterbacks in Jason Hare and David Robles. Each are very talented athletes who can play different positions. We've seen them both this summer and while they are a ways from being the best at 3A, it's likely they test very well in the skill portion of the event being they are both very athletic. Silver's Quarterback Derek Salas is coming to Rio Rancho and he's one quarterback that is very amped up about events like these. Jared Rocha from Tularosa and Aaron Gomez are two new names to our database, Gomez received a late invite for his production during the Chaparral 7-On.
John Marquez is attending from Chaparral and we've like what he has done in 7-On this summer. His short timing route accuracy is very impressive. Last but not least from Eddy County we have two dynamic 2014 Quarterbacks in Trevor Eulenbach along with Carlsbad's Rodney Holcomb. Eulenbach looked more than impressive during the Eastern New Mexico 7-On and as for Holcomb, we think we is on the verge of earning a D-1 scholarship over the next six months.

Running Backs

One of the most important positions on the field at all times is the running back. From the power backs to the speed type backs, there is nothing more exciting than watching a running back take on the mass of the work load for three to four yards a pop, then bam he breaks one of the 80-yards.
Starting off in the Metro Area, we have Ulisses Astora from Rio Rancho attending. The 5-foot-8, 175 pound Running back breached the 1,000-yard mark as a junior and blasted off some big time testing numbers last year. Pound for pound, Astorga could be the strongest overall backs and the event. Speaking of power backs we have 215 pound Skylar Martin from Hope Christian who is a fullback that will be in attendance.
Recently, Martin posted 31 reps of 185 pounds. Teammate of Martin Tommy Riley at 190 pounds will be at the event. Riley is one of the most underrated backs in the State of New Mexico and is due for a huge senior year. Sandia is bringing three running backs to the event and any three could start at most high schools throughout the state. Adam Hoke, Daniel Cones, and Brandon Koonce will be at the event, last year Cones ran one of the fastest 40-times as a junior.
Los Lunas is sending their dynamic backfield duo in Power Back Darron Gallegos and speed back Jalen Chavez. Staying in Valencia County, we have Xavier Armijo from Belen attending, who looks to be the next best back from the Eagle's power run game. Ryneal Lewis from Aztec is a new name to the database as is Cameron Sanchez from Rio Grande. From Cibola we have Cory Ross who is 190 pounds and ranked as one of the top 50 players in the state by NMPreps.com. David McGree ran for over 1,000-yards as a freshmen last year and should be a top flight back in the Class of 2015.
Michael Ward from Eldorado is coming out and 100M defending state champ Romell Jordan from Cleveland is attending. Jordan is ranked as the top running back in the State of New Mexico by NMPreps.com. One 3A running back that looks to be one of the best overall players in the State is Salomon Martinez who had had a monster type summer. Jeremy Sanchez from Atrisco Heritage is a power back that is absolutely shredded and the brother of Bobby Newcomb (Highland Great) Mustafa Mudada will be in attendance.
Mudada is a blazer who's stock is on the rise. Power back from Academy Alan Leyba will be at the event, one we are really excited to see and Santa Rosa defensive back/running back Marcus Lopez could rep with the running backs if he wants he is that good. Last but not least, we have Michael Rose from La Cueva attending, Rose has an A+ speed rating, so we'll have to check him out running the 40.

Southern Talent

As for the Southern Talent attending, we have Dakota Bencomo who is a power back out of Silver City. We have Austin Salas out of Las Cruces. Salas has some big shoes to fulfill taking over for Xavier Hall. From Carlsbad we have Dillon Caddell who has looked great this summer as a receiver in 7-On.
Kid has a great moves and is very quick. Ismail Garrett and Jerome Sandoval from Deming are both attending. Garrett could be a giant sleeper and Sandoval is 100% after a leg injury last season. The Line 8-Man attendee is from Tatum and though he comes from a small school Jimmy Pearce had some huge numbers as a junior.
Tough kid who is coming to compete with the bigs. John Jung from Mesilla Valley will be at the event as will John Matzke from Alamogordo. John Unger from Santa Teresa impressed our staff at the Chaparral 7-On and from Lovington we have Justin Bromley who started every game for Lovington as a junior.
From Clovis Kamal Cass will be at the event. Cass is one of the best overall prospects in the Class of 2014. Wendell Hayes is a name college coaches need to write down right now.
The 200 plus pound back from Lordsburg won the 100M 2A State Title and he's built like a man. Diamond in the rough and one that we are thrilled is making the long way up to Rio Rancho.

Receivers & Tight Ends

The flashiest position on the football field, the speed type players that go up and make the big time play in the 4th quarter. Receivers have to be Elite in order to get noticed in this bunch as it's the most populated position by far each year at the Combine.
Leading off the Metro Area, we start with the home high school receiving corps from Rio Rancho High School. Austin Patterson who had a monster junior year is expected to do fantastic in the one-one-one's, Nathan Jojola could have the best overall hands in the state, our staff calls him Mr. Velcrow, and then their is Junior to be Tristen Foley who already has one of the top 25 40-times at the event, which he posted as a sophomore last year.
From Volcano Vista we have 6-foot-5, Connor Anderson who has impressed over the summer time and then we have the blazing and smooth as they come Dorsett Valdez who's been a starter at Volcano Vista since his sophomore year. From Eldorado High School we have Aaron Herrera, Jeremiah De Lara, and Jonah Mestas. Herrera is due for a huge year and will be tough to hang with in man coverage, De Lara is likely to test off the charts in the combine portion, and Mestas' overall stock is flying off the charts as he's had such a wonderful off-season.
Mestas is going to be their go-to-guy on offense this year. From Cleveland High School we have John Bastian, Andre LiRosi from the Class of 2014, and Sean Worthington. Worthington has really impressed this summer and has some very good speed with the football. Basitan and Li Rosi have also emerged as top targets for new quarterback Kian Homme over the summer. St. Pius X is sending Daniel Sanchez for the second year in a row, Sanchez has a lot of experience and is very athletic, should test well.
Dillon Boyd at 6-foot-4, from Sandia has impressed this summer and loves the deep ball in the end-zone. Brendan Barker who is also from Sandia has put on 20 pounds of muscle since his junior season and has fantastic hands. From Highland High School we have three blazing prospects. Dominic Bazan, Rashad Ortiz, and DJ Prichett will be in attendance. Bazan is very physical off the line, Ortiz is very smooth and tore the defensive backs up in last year's event, and Pritchett could be the fastest overall receiver at the event. Cibola is sending Drew Janis who was an All-Metro Receiver as a junior and Albuquerque is sending 6-foot-5, Daz Banks.

Northern Talent

St. Michael's is sending Josh Carrasco who is looking like one of the top receivers in Class 3A, Bryson Martinez is attending from Piedra Vista, Austin Jones from Laguna Acoma, and Jacob Wilcox is headed to the event from Grants. Martinez has a 35 inch vertical leap and at 6-foot-2, and 190 pounds we feel he is one of the best overall receivers in the State. Austin Jones had a great junior season at Laguna and is 6-foot-2 himself.

Southern Talent

Ruidoso has Parker Johnson attending who will just be a sophomore, but as a freshmen he caught for 1,000-yards and is one of the fastest sophomores in the State of New Mexico. Dylan Demarest is more a linebacker than receiver, but he can play either position that a coach needs him too.
From Las Cruces, we have Chris Rojas, Michael Calzada, and Jalen Bishop. We know about the Las Cruces offensive and defensive line, but don't know too much about their skill positions, so it will be great to get a look at their skill set.
Santa Teresa is sending Jose Angel Robles and from Chaparral Christian Ramos is attending, one of the top receivers in Class 4A. Alamogordo is sending Logan Jones, and from Hobbs we have Steven Olivas and Javon King.
Each Eagle representatives have impressed in the new offensive set over the summer. From Artesia we have Zane Pittam who we feel is do for a huge junior season along with Junior Quarterback Trevor Eulenbach. A very solid Class of 2014 connection.

Tight Ends

We have some big time tight ends this year in New Mexico. Chris Thompson out of La Cueva at 6-foot-3 has really blown up over the summer time. He has great hands, good speed, and was an All-Metro Tight End as a junior in 2011. Tanner Graham at 220 pounds from Alamogordo looked solid at the Eastern New Mexico 7-On, Jarrett Vaz from Roswell is also 220 pounds and will be a three year starter for the Coyotes this year.
Onate is sending two tight ends in Kevin Benda and Mario Pacheco. Valencia's Andrew Yamamoto is expected to be one of their top players returning from last year's 11-1 team. Santa Fe is sending Mario Holladay, Cibola is sending Desmond Spikes who is likely the most athletic tight end at 6-foot-4, and 215 pounds. From Clovis we have Kenneth Robinson and 6-foot-4 Marshall Winn who looks like a D-1 Prospect, will be interesting to see him in one-on-one's and see his testing numbers. As you can see, this is a stacked group of athlete.

Offensive Linemen

Let's face it, the game does not go without the big boys and football would not be football without the 265 pound pulling guard who ends up pancaking a defensive linemen. This year's group of offensive linemen is stacked with some big time talent which will be able to hold their own against a salty group of defensive linemen…
From Sandia we have two-year Combine Attendee Buck Walden at 6-foot-4. He's one of the top linemen in the Metro Area and has really improved year over year, look for him to be in the mix come the battle of the trenches. From Las Cruces we have three big boys attending in Jacob Benegas, Lane Cummings, and Rudy Guerrera. Each started as juniors at Las Cruces and each would start for any team in the State of New Mexico.
Hard to even say which linemen is best, we'll have to wait until the one-on-one's to find out. From La Cueva we have Ryan Campbell and Cole Kreger, who have impressed this summer. Kreger at 255 pounds is a prospect that is pure football and one that will likely make a push to start both ways for the Bears.
We have not had the opportunity to evaluate Campbell just yet, so we'll keep tabs on him on Saturday. From Cleveland we have Jason Alvarado who transferred from Silver for his senior year. This experience will be great for Alvarado to gear him up for the speed of 5A football.
Los Lunas is sending 2014 prospect Chris Romero who really caught out eye during out preview of Los Lunas and from Texico we have one of the better offensive linemen in 2A in Daniel Gomez attending. Also from Class 2A is Miguel Gonzalez from Hatch Valley. From Mayfield we have Martin Tarango who the Mayfield Coaches are very high on and from Carlsbad we have 320 pound Carlos Gonzales.
Pete Mora from St. Pius X and Marcus Alarid from Santa Fe will represent Class 4A. From Rio Rancho we have Robert Salgado who will be a two-year starter for the Ram's come the start of the 2012 season. Salgado is a very solid looking prospect. Samuel White from Hope Christian is a solid 220 pounds and one that can play both sides of the football is he wants he is that good and one who is very underrated.
Speaking of underrated we have Andres Blea from St. Michael's attending at 6-foot-5, 285 pounds, likely one of the biggest prospects at the event. Eunice is sending 6-foot-6, 285 pound James Marley who we are eager to have at the event and for the small school players as mentioned early the event makes them so much better going against top tier defensive linemen from Class 5A.
Dakota Montoya from Clayton, New Mexico is attending. The small school standout is also a top hoops player for the Jackets. From Deming we have Nestor Ponce is who absolutely stoked to prove he is one of the top linemen in the State. From Robertson we have three year starter Santiago Aragon of Robertson and Caleb Martin from Alamogordo is attending.

Defensive Linemen

During the NMPreps.com Elite Combine, we feature the defensive linemen vs. the offensive linemen in a one-on-one session, which is really the highlight of each year's event. Here is a look at the roster of defensive linemen that are attending the Combine on Saturday.
From Las Cruces our Pre-Season Number One Ranked Team in New Mexico we have Kamryn Dixon attending who we have ranked as the number one overall prospect in the State of New Mexico. At last year's event, Dixon was the Combine King giving linemen trouble in the trenches all afternoon. We also have 245 pound Taylor Tisby from Las Cruces attending who had over 13 sacks a junior. Oscar Guzman from Las Cruces is the team's punter and nose guard, hard not to like that combination.
From Goddard we have 215 pound David Chavers who had had a monster summer at every summer event we've seen him at. He is extremely quick off the line and should be very tough to defend for offensive tackles on the day. Another quick side defensive end is from Eldorado in Dazmond Ravenel. Ravenel is expected to be on of Eldorado's top chasing quarterback defenders in 2012.
Along with Ravenel from Eldorado we have 6-foot-1, 265 pound Austin French who will be a two-year starter and one prospect that we are very high on and 6-foot-7, Matthew Clark out of Eldorado who will just be a junior will be at the event. From Carlsbad we'll have Ethan Jon Holgouin who looked very impressive during our stop in Carlsbad earlier this summer and from Los Alamos you have Grant Washburn who ran the fastest shuttle time out of any prospect at the event last year with a time of 4.03.
From Volcano Vista we have three powerful defensive linemen attending. Mike Budick, Chris Carrica, and Isaiah Perry will all be at the event. Carrica and Perry are two of the top linemen we've seen this summer and we are excited to see where Budick fits in talent wise after the event.
From Sandia we have Tyler Ireland and Jeremiah Thompson. Each are going to be super productive for Sandia in 2012. Thompson is a Class of 2014 top prospect. Los Lunas is bring 5-foot-11 Preston Schollander and 6-foot-4 Greg Wortman. As a junior last year Wortman had over 12 sacks and is one that should shine during the one-on-one's.
Dyan Terry is coming down from Piedra Vista and District Rival Joey Dotson will be at the event also. Dotson is noted for catching David Anaya, Goddard's running back from behind last year in the State Title Game. From Rio Rancho we have Morgan Smith who looks like a beast in the weight room and Sergio Mendoza from the Class of 2014.
St. Pius X is bring Connor Brown and Noah Griego, 6-foot-4 Gunner Paulsen from Manzano will be at the event. Paulsen has a brother that played at the University of Oklahoma. Eric Strobert from La Cueva will be at the event along with Ryan Koeller and Nikolia Purdy, three new prospects we have liked over the summer time. From Santa Teresa we have both David Aldama and Joey Alvarado attending, excited to see what Santa Teresa has in the trenches.
Now for the big three, Dijon Ford who is 260 pounds out of Clovis will be a the event. Ford is a big time hoops player and also a very solid tight end for the Wildcat's. Mareon Gray at 6-foot-4 from Albuquerque will be at the event for a second year in a row and 6-foot-4, 265 pound DeVonte Weeks from Mayfield who we feel is a very underrated prospect will has signed up to prove his stock value.

Linebackers

This year's event features literally all the big name linebackers in the State of New Mexico and the talent is extremely deep this year. Leading off the line up of Linebackers is Tyler Ireland of Sandia. Ireland will be a two-year starter at Sandia and has a big enough frame to play some defensive end this year.
Hope Christian is sending Skylar Martin who is 215 pounds and recently posted 31 reps of 185 pounds. Martin's overall stock is on the rise and one sleeper prospect we are eager to see test at the event. Aztec is sending two of their linebackers. Conner Gaskins along with Brad Hardin. Gaskins is a new name to the Elite List, while we saw plenty of Hardin is last year's 2011 State Title Game.
Grants is sending Daniel Sedillos, Santa Fe is sending Isaiah Taylor, and two big time prospects attending are Chris Loidolt out of La Cueva along with Geoffrey Smelser from Onate. Each are likely Pre-Season All-State Candidates. Loidolt is over 200 pounds and Smelser from Onate looks to be one of the best overall linebackers in the City of Las Cruces. Staying in Las Cruces, Joah Franzoy out of the Class of 2014 will be in attendance and started as a sophomore for the Trojans in 2011.
Sam Denmark who is also from the Class of 2014 will be the event and his numbers on his send in prospect sheet were super impressive. Santiago Miranda from Mayfield and Joshua Kitt from Onate will also be attending. From Mesilla Valley we'll have Joseph Zielinski and though Zielinkski is from a 2A program, he could likely start for any 4A or 5A program he is that could. He had a monster junior season.
From St. Pius X will have Jo Jo Saiz who looked very impressive during our preview of St. Pius X. Sleeper prospect from Piedra Vista is Kason Wilkinson who the Piedra Vista Coaches feel is going to be a very special player this year will be at the event. From Hobbs we have Lucas Medrano one of the most athletic linebackers in the state and from Lovington we have Bo Jackson attending. Jackson started every game for the Lovington Wildcats during the 2011 season. From Silver City we have All-State Linebacker Nevada Bencomo along with his brother Dakota attending. Last year Nevada was one of the top linebackers in 3A as just a junior.
Headed back to the Northern part of the State we'll have Santo Coppola at 6-foot-3 from St. Michael's who has had a great summer in the gym. Patrick Garcia from Eldorado has over 100 tackles as a junior. Pure football player with great sense of the game, Cleveland is sending Michael Dunlap, Rio Grande is sending Ryan Lucero, and last but not least Volcano Vista will be sending 225 pound Josh Lubold who already looks like he plays college football.

Defensive Backs

The defensive back roster is always thin at the Elite Combine, which means there is more than enough room to shine at the Statewide Prep Football Showcase. Let's face it, no one wants to man up on the State's Top Receiver's in front of 500 people and get burnt, that's way being a defensive back is considered one of the toughest positions to play in football. Glancing over the 2012 Defensive Back's Roster we highlight a few names that are registered to be in attendance. Nate Nash out of Valencia High School will just be a sophomore this coming season.
As a Freshman he saw time on varsity for Valencia and played in some monster games. Expect him to post some solid speed numbers at the event. James Youchison out of Manzano is another underclassmen to watch this weekend. What we like about the 2014 prospect is his man coverage skills. Very similar frame to Rio Rancho 2011 graduate Tim Foley who is fighting to start as a walk on at the University of New Mexico currently. Joseph Searcy-Ortega is going to be one of the top defensive backs at the event out of Volcano Vista.
Besides being one of the fastest overall prospects in the State, Searcy-Ortega has great coverage skills and is highly aggressive when the ball is in the air, expect him to show up and do big things. While we're talking on show-stoppers, we cannot overlook Steven Steele who has a career 17 interceptions heading into the 2012 season. A dynamic defensive back that is talented enough to be Cleveland's back up quarterback this year. He'll return punts, kicks, etc. Steele is one our top overall prospects in the State of New Mexico and glad an athlete like this is coming to prove he is the real deal.
Staying with top 25 prospects, we highlight Rio Rancho's own Dallin Brady who is a big hitter and a big player maker for the Rams. As a junior, this young man lit up running backs, receivers, you name it, Brady was changing the momentum for the Rams. Brady is a baller. Khmaree McCray out of West Mesa is a new name to our database, but impressed during our Campus Tour at West Mesa. Out of the Class of 2014, McCray can play both defensive back and receiver, looking very smooth in coverage situations.
Brandon Thelan out of Mayfield High School looks more like a running back, but he'll be playing safety and tight end for the Trojans this year. During the New Mexico State 7-On camp this summer, Thelan was personally invited by the Aggie's staff to work out for the coaches after. Marcus Lopez out of Santa Rosa is one we are very excited to see go up against 4A and 5A comp. He is well built, has A+ speed, and should have no issues manning up on the speed type receivers. Lopez could also preform with the running backs on Saturday.
Ryan Hernandez out of St. Pius X had a productive junior season for the Sartans and coming into this year he looks like a senior impact player. Good hips, good feet, excited he will be representing the Sartan's Defense in a few days. Eric Anderson saw some time on the field for the Hope Christian Huskies in 2011 and this year is eager to prove himself as a top tier defensive back. Michael Holguin is another new name to our database and looks to be another solid addition to the loaded Las Cruces Defense.
