1. Rio Rancho-The Rams loss of Arizona State bound Louis Trujillo, state runner-up Bo Nickal, along with the departure of Coach Jason Nickal won't dampen any aspirations for another title. New head coach Mike Santos will field a team of returning state champions Matt Nunez, Nathaniel Lujan, Zack Rogers, Anthony Garcia, and Shea Nolan along with state placers Dominic Villareal, David Rael, and Trace Everidge. There is no doubt about this team's return to the championship stand.
2.Volcano Vista The Hawks jump to 5A will not curtail the success they accomplished residing in 4A. Although the loss of graduated state champions Matt Sandoval, DeAndre Gonzales, and Franco Flores, will leave a void, the Hawks return state champions Eric Montoya and Lawrence Otero. The team will rely on state placers Antonio Duran and Jake Espana to move up individually in the award stand. Incoming transfer students and quality underclassmen will fill their roster and look to lock up a second place finish.
3. Rio Grande Rio returns eight state qualifiers. Their best individual finisher is state runner-up Steven Trujillo. The Ravens will rely on the performance of their strong light weight wrestlers, brothers Andrew and Gabriel Montano, along with Andy Montoya and Bernardo Martinez.
